Visit to Preschool of Brunei Darussalam

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN - A total of five Graduate Education Service Officers, Faculty of Human Ecology, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) visited several preschools under the management of the Brunei Darussalam Education Ministry recently.

Programme coordinator Puan Nani Menon said that while using personal expenses, this is the best opportunity to acquire knowledge as well as to form a united front with the education ministry of the country.

"The Child Care and Early Childhood Education Unit at the Ministry of Education of Brunei Darussalam has given excellent response and cooperation in carrying out our pre-school trip activities even though the schedule is very crowded with the celebration of Sultan Brunei's cultural activities. This is the first time such a programme is held in Brunei" she said.

Teachers were brought to several preschools in different areas. Among the preschools visited are Binturan Primary School, Bukit Panggal Primary School and PKN Bukit Buang Primary School located in Tutong.

In addition to learning culture and developing mindsets, teachers can exchange ideas and experiences related to early childhood education between the two countries and strengthen collaboration between UPM and Brunei's Ministry of Education.

According to one of Brunei's education officers, Hajah Siti Radiyah Haji Ibrahim, they are also pleased to receive a group of teachers from UPM and intend to make a return visit in the future.
