![]() SERDANG, 5 March – The Faculty of Human Ecology (FEM) and the UPM Alumni Association (PAUPM), in collaboration with the Student Affairs Division (BHEP), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), organised the Iftar Silaturahim and Santunan Kasih Alumni (MISKA) programme on 5 March 2026 at the Faculty of Human Ecology, UPM. The event brought together FEM and UPM alumni, faculty staff, and also celebrated children from Rumah Kanak-Kanak Mini Cheras.
FEM is honoured that the key leadership of PAUPM comprises FEM alumni, namely Encik Norashedy Ab Rashid (President) and Encik Shahruddin Mahadi (Deputy President). Their presence within the PAUPM leadership is expected to further strengthen and enhance alumni engagement with the faculty.
![]() This programme represents an initial initiative by FEM to empower and expand alumni networking and engagement within the faculty. The Dean of FEM, Prof. Dr. Mohamad Fazli Sabri, stated, “Program Alumni: Let’s Reconnect is a flagship programme targeted for implementation in 2026, and MISKA is hoped to serve as the starting point for this initiative.”
![]() ![]() He further added that FEM has developed a dedicated survey for FEM alumni as a proactive effort to reconnect with them, understand their needs, gather feedback, and identify their interests in order to strengthen alumni networks and support the development of the faculty. Prior to the event, the children from Rumah Kanak-Kanak Mini Cheras were brought by programme sponsors and representatives from FEM and PAUPM to purchase Hari Raya attire at Bandar Baru Bangi. ![]() The programme began with a sharing session titled “Makan Berpada, Ramadan Lebih Bermakna”, delivered by Dr. Shamsul Azahari Zainal Badari, a lecturer from the Department of Resource Management and Consumer Studies, who is also a member of the FEM alumni class of 1999.
![]() The event continued with welcoming remarks by the President of PAUPM and the Dean of FEM, followed by the presentation of Sumbangan Kasih Ramadan. It is hoped that this small gesture of kindness will bring joy and hope to the children as they prepare to celebrate the upcoming Hari Raya Aidilfitri.
![]() ![]() Subsequently, alumni and guests proceeded to Dataran FEM to enjoy the iftar meal while taking the opportunity to interact and strengthen ties in the blessed atmosphere of Ramadan. The iftar began with a recitation of doa by Associate Professor Dr. Ahmad Nasir Mohd Yusoff, a lecturer from the Department of Nationhood and Civilisation Studies. It is hoped that the organisation of MISKA will serve as a catalyst for FEM’s continuous efforts to strengthen its alumni network while encouraging greater alumni involvement and contributions to their beloved alma mater.
