Discussion on Preparations for the Semarak Merdeka UPM 2025 Programme@fem SERDANG, 22 July 2025 – A special discussion session was held by the Faculty of Human Ecology (FEM) through the Organising Committee for the Semarak Merdeka UPM 2025 competition@fem. The meeting primarily focused on early preparations, including facilities, equipment, Merdeka-themed props, and the planning of activities for the upcoming evaluation week. The programme is coordinated by the UPM Centre for Arts and Cultural Centre (PKK), which serves as the lead department (PTJ). The meeting was attended by Ms. Nurhanisah Sadun, Deputy Registrar of FEM, together with academic officers and support staff. This discussion also served as a platform for brainstorming and generating new ideas to enhance preparation efforts and reinforce the faculty’s commitment to supporting the lead PTJ in achieving excellent results in this year’s competition.   The Semarak Merdeka UPM 2025 Programme will feature three (3) competition categories: Inter-PTJ Jalur Gemilang Flag-Waving Competition Inter-PTJ Merdeka Choir Competition Inter-PTJ Merdeka Poetry Recital Competition The submission deadline for participation is 31 July 2025 (Thursday). A briefing session will be held on 4 August 2025 (Monday), and the competitions will take place from 11 to 15 August 2025. The PTJ that emerges as the Overall Champion of Semarak Merdeka UPM 2025 will receive the Best Overall PTJ Award, along with cash prizes and award plaques: Champion: RM5,000 First Runner-up: RM4,000 Second Runner-up: RM3,000   In addition, six (6) Special Awards will be presented to recognise outstanding efforts by participating PTJs: Best Concept & Theme Award Best Programme Content Award Creativity in Recycled Elements Award Best Event Participation Award Best PTJ Commitment Award Best Social Media Visibility Award In the 2024 edition, FEM successfully ranked 8th among the top 10 PTJs in the Semarak Merdeka UPM competition. This achievement reflects the strong commitment, teamwork, and unity of the entire FEM community — including both academic and non-academic staff — who contributed time, energy, and resources to ensure the success of various activities.   For 2025, FEM will once again take part in the Semarak Merdeka celebration. All members of the FEM community are encouraged to contribute and take part in the celebration at the faculty level as a symbol of unity, support, and patriotic spirit.
