History of the department

The Department of Resource Management and Consumer Studies focuses on consumer science and management of resources at individual, family and community level in order to enhance quality of life. Resource management emphasizes on optimization of human and non-human resources towards attainment of sustainable development and civilized society. Consumer studies programme examines relationship and interaction between consumers, producers and policy makers in the context of borderless market towards realization of fair trading environment, consumer empowerment and sustainable consumption. The goals of the department are to:

  • Produce quality graduates who are competitive and skilful in the fields of
    resource management and consumer science.
  • Achieve excellence in research related to resource management and consumerism that contribute to nation building.
  • Provide community services and consultancy as well as establish linkages and partnership with national and international bodies.
