SERDANG, June 15: Sahabat Masjid Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) (Friends of UPM Mosque), has conducted Ziarah Ihsan (welfare visits) and Ramadan Contribution programmes at several locations, including Sungai Siput, Perak, Bangi, Selangor and Pandan Jaya, Kuala Lumpur, recently.

Friends of UPM Mosque chairman, Bukryman Sabri, said the Ziarah Ihsan Ramadan Programme to the Orang Asli settlement at Pos Poi, Sungai Siput was held on May 17 to deliver basic necessities to 239 needy families and asnaf Orang Asli community in seven villages there.

He said the basic necessities were foodstuffs inclusive of rice, milk, sugar and flour, where each family received about RM100 worth of goods.

The contributions were presented to two Tok Batin there, Eley Busu and Ali Din.

Bukryman said the contributions were aimed at alleviating the burden on the families approaching Hari Raya, especially during the Movement Control Order (MCO) caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, which affected their income due to restricted movement to conduct daily work.

Meanwhile, on May 19, Sahabat Masjid UPM delivered basic necessities to eight B40 families at Flat Kos Rendah Seksyen 1, Bandar Baru Bangi.

They consisted of single mothers, heads of families who lost their jobs and fixed income, as well as families with a large number of members that are affected by the MCO.

Sahabat Masjid UPM also contributed Ramadan Aid in the form of basic necessities to 20 students of Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Pandan Jaya, who are from poor and asnaf families on May 19.

Bukryman said the contribution is hoped to ease the burden on the families and cheer them up for Hari Raya celebration.

Sahabat Masjid UPM also contributed meals for Iftar to 40 frontliners combating Covid-19, who are medical staff at the Serdang Hospital Pediatric Ward, on May 20. The Serdang Hospital Pediatric Ward is the adopted ward of Sahabat Masjid UPM.
