ISMS Audit Confirms Compliance with Standards and Effectiveness of Information Security Management System

SERDANG, 20 May 2026 – The Faculty of Human Ecology (FEM), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), conducted an Information Security Management System (ISMS) Audit based on the ISO/IEC 27001:2022 standard on 20 May 2026 (Wednesday), beginning at 9.00 a.m. at the Dean’s Meeting Room (BMD), FEM.

The audit was conducted by auditor Puan Hashimah Amat Sejani from the Information Development and Communication Centre (iDEC). Also present during the audit session were Puan Nurhanisah Sadun, Faculty Chief Administrator; Cik Syaakiratul Hasanah Rossidi, Assistant Registrar; and Cik Ain Nisrin, the ISMS auditee representing FEM.

The audit aimed to assess the organisation’s level of compliance with ISMS standard requirements while ensuring the effectiveness of information security controls covering system access, data protection, and physical security measures. In addition, the audit served to identify risks and weaknesses that could potentially affect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of organisational information.

At the same time, the audit supports continuous improvement efforts and assists the faculty in preparing for certification or surveillance audits conducted by external parties. Emphasis was also placed on the core principles of information security, namely confidentiality, integrity, and availability (CIA), to ensure that organisational information remains comprehensively protected.

Overall, the audit process was carried out smoothly. All required information and supporting documentation were fully prepared by the faculty. The audit findings indicated that the level of compliance and effectiveness of ISMS implementation at the Faculty of Human Ecology is in good standing and meets the criteria established by the university.

It is hoped that this achievement will be maintained and further enhanced over time in strengthening information security management practices at FEM.
