Spring Program, a mobility program organised by the Cross-cultural and Multidisciplinary College, Kumamoto University, Jepun was carried out from 26 February to 10 March 2019. Five undergraduate students from Faculty of Human Ecology took part as participants, under the MOU agreement signed by UPM and KU in last August.

The visit was also joined by senior lecturer from FEM, Dr Chan Cheong Jan for three days as co-cordinator. Among activities carried out include lectures on socio-cultural aspects of Japan; visit to the Music Department, Kumamoto University; interaction session with children at Kami-no Goh Kindergarten, Kumamoto; as well as visiting the victims of Kumamoto Earthquake 2016. Students from Music Department, FEM, UPM gave performance to children at kindergarten, met up with representatives from NGO; as well as talked to the elderly victims who were still staying at temporal shelter since the earthquake that happened two years ago.

The trip brought insights on issues related to education and disaster management. It is hoped that these exchange activities will lead to the realisation of long term student exchange.
