The Department of Music was established in 1996 as one of the five departments at the Faculty of Human Ecology. The Bachelor of Music programme focuses on classical and contemporary music. The goals of the department are to:
- Produce graduates who are knowledgeable, skillful and experienced as specialists in the field of music.
- Produce music graduates at international level.
- Conduct research and produce publications on various aspects of music, including the local aspects.
- Provide consultation services in the field of music to government and private bodies, especially educational institutes, at the local and regional levels.
